A general introduction to this system can be found in the NAFI Timber Manual in the Datafile on Timber Portal Frames. It is available from the timber promotion agencies in the various states e.g. TRADAC, TPC, TDA, TAC etc.
The Consultancy of James Pierce & Associates has had a long association with the development of moment resisting joints that are so necessary for the construction of these frames. The practice was also involved in development of design procedures, testing of prototypes and detailed design of portal and other non-traditional frames.
